Once again the Waccamaw Neck Branch Library and Games in Schools and Libraries are kicking off ShushCon, the Grand Strand’s premier FREE public gaming event, with a day of professional development for teachers, librarians and other educational professionals. We will be offering sessions dedicated to the use of games in story based programs in their curriculum and community outreach activities.
Workshop activities have a soft start at 9:00 am on Friday, March 22nd with the first presentation at 10:00. and will focus on GSL workshop activities until we adjourn for lunch at 1:00 pm. After lunch our ShushCon activities will continue and all Story Games Workshop participants are encouraged to join the fun by experience story games first-hand by playing with convention attendees.
9:00 – Virtual Reality Showcase and Exploration of Story Games Resources
10:00 – Presentations on “Games and Story” and “Game Basics”
10:45 – Hands On
Attendees break into groups to experience a variety of games, with discussions on how they relate to and interact with story.
12:45 – Session Recap, Door Prizes, and Lunch Break
After lunch, the ShushCon convention schedule offers a variety of games, including a children’s game track, hobby and game enthusiast games, organized play, virtual reality games, and an exclusive escape room designed by Stephanie Frey!
